NSITians have once again made it to the civil services - with a BANG!

Graduates from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology have claimed 3 ranks in top 500 in the 2010 IAS examination, sending ripples of jubilation across the college. Two other candidates from the college figure among the top 700 rank winners.

The distinguished achievers include Gaurav Thakur (Rank 89, ECE 2005-2009), Tavishi Behal (Rank 127, COE 2006-2010), Ashish Bharti (Rank 331), Jitendra Yadav (Rank 504), Prashant Baliyan (Rank 636 ) and Vaibhav Shukla (Rank 645 ).  What adds to our pride is the fact that some of these alums are quite young, just graduates actually! And most of them cracked the exam in their very first attempt.

On being asked how to concentrate on IAS preparation while coping up with college studies/job, TavishiBehal (who opted for geography and psychology in the exam) replies, “It is said that exponential growth is achieved in high risk zones. Similar was the case while preparing for the examination and coping with college. This examination, in my opinion, requires three to four hours of studying a day for about an year which can easily be achieved even if one is working or studying. All you require is determination and proper prioritization. Always remember that weekends can be seen as Bonus Days .”

For Ashish Bharti, his family proved to be his biggest support. Unlike his other batchmates, he wanted to pick up a lucrative job, but his father had other plans. “Daddy would take me to meet people who had cleared the exam. They helped me a lot and guided me. He would tell me not to run for money, but to be focused for a bright career,” says Ashish.

These young achievers believe there is no secret formula for success other than hard work and a systematic approach to studies. “Don’t neglect hard work,” is their advice to youngsters. They also hope that such accomplishments act as a driving force for the younger lot to set higher targets for themselves in future.

During their inter-action, these meritorious students also expressed their deep sense of gratitude to their teachers and support staff for their selfless contribution in grooming them to face tough challenges with grit and determination. A tribute worth cherishing indeed!
